10 Reasons Why London Towne Stands Out

London Towne is a vibrant and thriving community of eager learners from diverse backgrounds. Our students bring unique perspectives that enrich our academic environment. We are committed to fostering a culture of collaboration among our teachers and students, ensuring everyone benefits from the collective wisdom and creativity of our community.

One

Enriching Academic Programs

The availability of academic programs at London Town is broad and inclusive. Our Young Scholars Program is designed to support high-achieving students with challenging coursework and enrichment opportunities. Other Enrichment activities include Math/Science Olympiad, Chess, and ItzART4u.

two

Spanish Immersion Program

London Towne Elementary School offers a Spanish immersion program. Part of that program has included connecting with mentors from the Spanish Honor Society at Westfield High School who serve as pen pals.  Our school has recently established a local full-time program for Advanced Academics, to allow students to remain at their base school and/or participate in Spanish Immersion, as well as full-time Advanced Academic programming.

threeWestfield High School Peer Mentor Program

Westfield High School’s Peer Mentor class also connects with students at London Towne. High school mentors meet with their elementary mentees regularly to chat, play games, and work on collaborative activities.  We are grateful that these student leaders take time to serve as role models for future Westfield Bulldogs!

Family Events Foster Sense of Belonging Around the Towne

The Towne hosts several family events each year, such as Literacy Night, STEAM Night, Family Heritage Night, Community Days, as well as PTA-sponsored movie, bingo, and dance nights.  These occasions provide opportunities for families to join their students at school for fun and learning together.

Repairing with Restorative Justice Practices

At London Towne, we utilize Restorative Justice practices, such as Community Circles, small group interventions, and conflict resolution conversations.  These practices allow students to have voice and advocate for themselves.

Growing Global Awareness with Get2Green

As Ethical and Global Citizens, students on the Get2Green Team develop an understanding of sustainability and how to put this into practice through student-led initiatives, such as our composting program, cafeteria share table to reduce food waste, and pollinator and edible gardens.  Working with local non-profit organizations, such as Bull Run Regional Park and Trout in the Classroom, students broaden their perspective of community and increase awareness of their impact on our local environment.

Our Lion Leaders ROAR

Our Lion Leaders team is a group of 6th graders who apply and are selected through an interview process.  They serve as model Communicators in our building, producing our live daily news show with answers to student questions, Portrait of a Graduate connections, and announcements.  They also serve as student leaders in a variety of capacities, such as coordinating school fundraisers, planning spirit weeks, and facilitating service projects.

London Towne celebrates a diverse community representing two dozen different home languages!  Twenty-six percent of our students are Multilingual Learners and 85% of that group demonstrated growth in their English learning over the past two years on an annual assessment measuring skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Growing Responsible Digital Citizens

London Towne has been recognized as a 2023-24 Common Sense School, demonstrating its commitment to taking a whole-community approach to preparing its students to think critically and use technology responsibly to learn, create, and participate while preparing them for the perils that exist in the online realm.
