One of our first-grade teachers, Mr. Taylor, was honored at a school-wide breakfast this morning because he was nominated by one of his student's parents for an FCPS Cares award and won for the month of November!  FCPS Cares is a county-wide recognition that celebrates teachers who go above and beyond in the areas of Responsive Culture, Excellence in Academics, Positive Relationships, and Enriching Experiences for all Students. Mr. Thompson, the nominating parent, and Becky Baenig, Region 5 Assistant Superintendent, attended the breakfast to celebrate with us!

Below is the write up submitted by Mr. Thompson, the nominating parent.

Mr. Taylor has gone above and beyond to help our son become the little boy he once was. After going through some tough times prior to this year, Mr. Taylor has opened our son's emotions back up, allowing him to trust again, hope again and most of all, love again. His confidence is soaring and he is believing in himself once again! Mr. Taylor, since day one, has had a tremendously positive attitude towards teaching and has done so much to help our son push through. He addresses him in kindness and patience. He has an extraordinary attitude toward teaching, helping and nurturing, not only our son but all of his students. We truly appreciate his dedication and love for all of the children that he teaches! We applaud, salute and honor Mr. Taylor for being a dynamic teacher with such compassion, dedication and drive to be the best teacher he can be for the future teachers, lawyers, doctors, etc!  Job well done, Mr. Taylor!
